My 2015 Favorites – Raleigh and Wake Forest Family photographer

I planned on doing one post at a time revealing my 2015 favorites but as the new year came and went, I figured, If I’m going to make this blog post, I need to just go ahead and do it! These are my 2015 favorites. The ones that took my breath away for one reason or another. I’m going to post the image and then explain what I love about it underneath. I’m going to do my top 3 for each category. I love love love all of my sessions and clients which makes this post extremely hard to do because it forces me to choose!

My 2015 favorite newborn photo(s):

Maria’s newborn session. Maria’s love for neutrals and grays created something magical for her session. I love this image for so many reason. Maria naturally went into this position right before nursing Elias and I told her to freeze as she went to kiss him. My newborn sessions in 2015 has turned away from posed and pretty and into natural and real. I love capturing the moment before it is gone.

Curt and Hudson! I loved photographing Hudson in his home for his newborn session. That’s all I offer actually. It allows me to capture little details that help showcase the family. What I really love about this photo is the R wall behind them. My clients who have seen this picture comment on this wall all the time to me and every time I see a R while I’m out and about, I still think about them.

Silas! Silas was a squishy, sleepy, adorable newborn. His little mohawk made me swoon at almost every photo from his session. I love the warmth of this photo, the simpleness of it. The sweetness of a sleeping newborn being held by his mama. It’s so simple but I feel like I could stare at it for ages.

I remember when I took this image, I thought… wow… this should be in a magazine. It was simple, timeless, classy. The focus was on their love and baby Hudson. The way he’s looking at her… it’s all so perfect in my eyes.

I love to tell stories with my images and sometimes there is a perfect quote that is attached with an image. I feel like the quote tells Jennifer and Kevin’s story. This photo will be something to cherish for years to come.

“Before you were conceived I wanted you. Before you were born I loved you. Before you were here an hour I would die for you. This is the miracle of Mother’s Love.”

– Maureen Hawkins

It’s Maria again! This is sheer perfection in my eyes. Horses are really really really unpredictable and the fact that we were able to snap this, makes my heart go pitter patter. I remember going… wow! whenever I finished editing it. It still takes my breath away. I am so thankful that Maria hired me to follow her on her journey of pregnancy, birth and life with 2 littles!

My favorite 2015 family photos!

The Ditzel Family! Amanda was actually my birth photographer and now a dear friend. I’m incredibly honored that she chose me to photograph her family this year. I love love love this photo. I love M running through the grass and the way Amanda is looking at her hubby. I’m passionate about capturing families being who they are. It’s all about having fun and making memories!

The Hills! 2 sets of twins makes for an amazing family of 6. I had so much fun with them. There’s so much to love about this image. All of the lines, textures, colors, patterns… but most importantly, I just love how the kids are all looking at their parents. Love love love!

This is one of my top favorite images of 2015. This solidified how much I love lifestyle sessions. The simple background of mom and dad’s bed was the perfect place for their session. I love their faces in this image. This is my goal for every session I go to. Real laughter. Real memories. Real moments turned into timeless images.
